Uncorked: European Wine Consumption
This project focused on mapping population density and wine consumption across Europe. The goal was to use different mapping techniques to clearly show patterns in the data.
The map uses a choropleth style to show population density—darker shades represent more people per square kilometer. On top of that, proportional red circles indicate wine consumption per person. The bigger the circle, the more wine is consumed. Some countries really stand out as wine lovers! To keep things clear and easy to read, the map includes all essential elements: north arrow, legend, scale bar, neat line, and data sources.
This was a fun and engaging way to combine data and design. I enjoyed seeing how wine consumption doesn’t always align with population size—some smaller countries definitely know how to enjoy their wine! It also helped me see the value of good map design in telling a clear story.
